Airbnb City Portal - Coordinate STR Regulations & Tax Issues

Airbnb City Portal - Coordinate STR Regulations & Tax Issues

Many Hosts are seeing increased regulatory restrictions/licensing requirements and tax issues related to short term rentals. Airbnb does have a whole department dedicated to working with local goverment and tourism officials called City Portal. The link below will allow officials in government or tourism to make contact with Airbnb through the portal:

Buongiorno @Joan2709 ,

Airbnb should create a City Portal in Italy where the increased regulatory restrictions/licensing requirements and tax issues are becoming unsustainable 😉

I have been reading the posts about everything going on in Italy 😳.

The article says it is world-wide in over 430 jurisdictions, so it should be available in Italy?

Interesting, when I started hosting there wasn't all this information on Airbnb, I had to look for it myself 😉

@Andrea6232

Yes...it does seem when it comes to the regulatory/tax issues (and others), Airbnb and other OTA are "reactive" instead of "proactive".  Are there local Hosts clubs that are supportive in Italy?

Since the regulatory scene is becoming increasingly restrictive and "anti-Airbnb", it's probably a good idea for Airbnb to put resources into working with governments and tax authorities. Hopefully they will put more resources into this and provide better support to Hosts.

This is especially true when it comes to taxes and how they are calculated. Hosts have to jump through hoops to figure it out, and when an Airbnb error is discovered in how the taxes are collected (or not collected at all), it's almost impossible to get it corrected. Can't get past the frontline CS who are not trained in this area (taxes are a "specialized team" like many others). I don't understand why Airbnb can't show what percent taxes are being collected on a reservation like other OTAs do?

Frustrating...😠

@Joan2709

you're right! It's really frustrating! Luckily there are us hosts who help each other in this Community 🤗
