Yes...it does seem when it comes to the regulatory/tax issues (and others), Airbnb and other OTA are "reactive" instead of "proactive". Are there local Hosts clubs that are supportive in Italy?
Since the regulatory scene is becoming increasingly restrictive and "anti-Airbnb", it's probably a good idea for Airbnb to put resources into working with governments and tax authorities. Hopefully they will put more resources into this and provide better support to Hosts.
This is especially true when it comes to taxes and how they are calculated. Hosts have to jump through hoops to figure it out, and when an Airbnb error is discovered in how the taxes are collected (or not collected at all), it's almost impossible to get it corrected. Can't get past the frontline CS who are not trained in this area (taxes are a "specialized team" like many others). I don't understand why Airbnb can't show what percent taxes are being collected on a reservation like other OTAs do?
Frustrating...😠
