BANK CHARGES BY THE BANK ON ANY PAYMENTS

Located in Zambia with a lodge

I am being charged $15 per payment received from airbnb

This is a new thing , I was never charged anything before and all charges should be carried by the client .

Is this a new thing for Airbnb or for Standard Chartered Bank in Zambia

Hi Claire,

The $15 fee you're encountering for each payment from Airbnb is likely imposed by Standard Chartered Bank in Zambia for processing incoming international wire transfers. This fee is separate from Airbnb's service fees and is determined by your bank's policies.

Understanding the Fee:

  • Bank Charges: Banks often charge fees for processing incoming international wire transfers. These fees can vary based on the bank's policies and the nature of the transaction. It's possible that Standard Chartered Bank in Zambia has recently updated its fee structure, leading to the new $15 charge per incoming payment.

  • Airbnb's Role: Airbnb disburses host payouts through various methods, including international wire transfers. While Airbnb covers its own service fees, any additional fees charged by your bank for receiving funds are typically the host's responsibility. Airbnb notes that your financial institution may charge their own fees for processing payments: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/459

Recommended Actions:

  1. Contact Your Bank: Reach out to Standard Chartered Bank in Zambia to inquire about the specific fees associated with receiving international wire transfers. They can provide detailed information on their fee structure and any recent changes.

  2. Explore Alternative Payout Methods: Airbnb offers various payout options, such as PayPal, Payoneer, and others, depending on your location. These methods might have different fee structures and could potentially reduce or eliminate the charges you're currently facing. Review the available payout methods in your Airbnb account settings to determine if there's a more cost-effective option for you.

By understanding your bank's fee policies and exploring alternative payout methods, you can better manage and potentially reduce the charges associated with receiving your Airbnb earnings.

I hope this helps.

All the best,

Hi @Claire393

Welcome to the community, I hope you are doing well! Have you had a chance to review the information and suggestions Alicia shared with you last week?

It would be great if you could let us know if you have a chance to discuss these charges with your bank and what you find out.  🙂

Thanks,

Emilie

Hi there

Apparently its my bank here in zambia that now charges a fee of $15 on every deposit

This is killing m when i get payouts of $25

It means i receive less Airbnb comms and $15 less than $10 per payout

I need to CHANGE the payout method from every time some one stays to accummulate income to a greater payout as the fee stays same no matter the amount deposited

Can you help advise HOW DO I DELAY PAYOUT AND INCREASE THE TIME FRRAME OR AMOUNT FOR PAYOUT

Open a WISE account in the currency of your choice (or multiple  currencies in one account) and have Airbnb pay to that account. It's free to set it up. Their fees and currency exchange are very reasonable, and they don't charge for receiving money.
