Pretty standard practice for each individual to submit their own expense report. So why can't we split charges for a rental. To me, this seems like a major flaw and loss of potential revenue for business trips.
@Alex9808 For compliance reasons the company I worked for insisted that for shared meals, accommodation etc the senior person present was required to pay. This may not be required in the USA but is fairly standard practice elsewhere.

In HR, expense reporting is designed to maintain consistency and accountability. Allowing employees to split charges for things like rentals may complicate tracking and reimbursement processes. While it could seem like a way to reduce costs or increase revenue, it introduces challenges in terms of fairness, clarity, and administrative ease. If splitting expenses aligns with business needs, HR could consider revising policies and using tools that streamline this process while maintaining financial oversight.
