Hope this helps:
In the code, depending on your residential zoning, you may be given conditional permission for a variety of operations, but the code specifically says in Chapter 11:
E. Home Occupation
1. The home occupation shall be carried on entirely within the principal dwelling unit and not
occupy more 25 percent of the total floor area of the dwelling. No business shall be conducted
in an accessory building
3. No persons other than members of the family residing in the dwelling unit shall be engaged in
the home occupation.
So while in-home businesses are allowed, it sounds very distinctly that whole-house rentals are not allowed and partial rentals (rooms) cannot make up more than 25% of the total household. Also sounds like any granny/in-law suites prohibit business being run out of them - so no Airbnbs there either.
And it looks like if you have a rental property, it needs to be licensed.

"Mayor Jack Bradley said the city needs to notify the estimated 70 Airbnbs operating in the city that they need to have a variance to operate a business in a residential area, as they are out of compliance with the city zoning code." from https://chroniclet.com/news/300315/lorain-looks-to-regulate-airbnbs-through-zoning-enforcement/
