Columbia SC STR Registration and Representation

Hello, 

I just learnt about the city of Columbia South Carolina ordinance that was passed in April effective May 4 with a 120 day grace that mandates all STB (Short Term Business Rentals) to obtain an operating permit with the city. It also mandates that all non resident owners have a local representation within 45 miles from the property.

Anyone working  / submitted this application and can share any insights to it ? Especially the local representation. 

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

@Joydeep1  If you have a cleaning or maintenance person for your property who lives within the 45 miles, see if they will agree to be your local representative.  You may have to pay them a small stipend to respond to guests who have issues (like locking themselves out).

Getting a STR license isn’t easy need business license, map of off street parking w unit, copy of house manual. Plus 3 0/0 tax to gross income needs to be paid the 20th of month for prior month.  You get the slips w your business license.
