Hi! I seem to be running into issues with the Resolution Center as many guests have indicated it is not accessible on the mobile app. Is there a better way to charge a dog cleaning fee? We charge $50/pet. I wish this was something we could handle upfront (similar to the extra guest situation). Any feedback on how to make this easier would be appreciated.
Couldn't agree more. They have been saying they would add a pet fee for years. It's odd that they haven't because maybe you're then relegated to taking it in cash or Venmo (the whole Resolution Center process is complicated) and I would think the idea of missing out on money would make them add this simple one liner!
I cant tell you the times I just never bother to collect!
Yes, I totally agree with you. I request it as an "extra fee" through the Resolution Center and it is a pain to have to manually doit. I try not to request the fee until I'm within the no-refund period. There have been times I've remembered once they're in the property and they don't bother to pay it.
Another platform has it built in so the guest just pays it when they book. That is really nice.
I've responded to Airbnb's requests for upgrades hosts would like to see on the platform. And each time, I request for them to add a "pet fee."
I believe that if I offer an extra service by allowing a pet on the property, I should be able to be compensated for the extra cleaning I do.
The Airbnb personnel always say that they monitor this board, so maybe someone at Airbnb will consider adding this fee if they see it requested enough by hosts.
I agree - fingers crossed! That would be the simplest solution in my opinion.
I have also had people who could not figure out how to pay our pet fee when I sent it through the Resolution Center. Some pay cash when they get here. One tried to bring his dog and not tell us, but we live here and since he did not read the listing, when he tried to sneak in his dog he was busted. He paid cash, and left us a good review -- we left this dishonest cheat an honest review. One who did not pay after we sent the request, Air did collect it for us. They ignored the resolution request, but when we sent a message to AirBnB through the resolution center, it was paid.
Hi @Kirsten252,
We’re really pleased to share some details with you that were recently announced! In the coming weeks, Hosts will be able to add a Pet fee to their listing.
We have been listening to Host feedback, just like yours, so please do let us know how you like the new service by sharing your thoughts here on the Community Center once it has launched.

I am confused regarding pet fees. I have instant booking, but my listing also states that a dog is welcome "with prior approval". So, the majority of guests with a dog just go ahead and make the instant reservation and then tell me they have a dog. When they fill out my rental agreement, there is a whole page titled Pet Addendum, and they will list that they have a dog. I don't charge for the first dog. I tell guests that if they are bringing a second dog, there is a $25.00/night fee. Since they have already made the reservation, I have always just let them know the day they made their reservation that they will need to pay me upon arrival (cash or paypal) for the 2nd dog. If I was supposed to go through the Resolution Center I certainly haven't known that. Is it okay to keep doing it the way I am doing it?
