GST remittance

We’ve signed up with the Canada Revenue agency for a GST number and provided that to airbnb in June when we first started. We were told by two AirBnB support technicians that they charge GST and remit it in our behalf.
However it is our own responsibility to remit GST.

Do we need to ask for a Host Remitted Tax payout from AirBnb, and if so ask for retroactive payment since June?

Hi @Andrea6568, Thank you so much for sharing your question with our Community.

I'm sharing an article here about responsible hosting in Canada, which might offer valuable information regarding taxes: https://www.airbnb.ca/help/article/1389

Additionally, I'm reaching out to some Hosts in British Columbia to see if they can share their perspective on this topic: @Lucy981@Beth5941 and @Marnie65

All the best,

Hi Andrea. I have the same issue with NO clear answer

What I submitted in the Community Center

as a AirBnB Host I am:

  1. Running it thru my Ltd Company which operates in a completely different field, and is over the $30K threshold.
  2. I know AirBnB charges taxes to the Guests
  3. Wanting to know,
  4. On MY NET, do I deduct the GST and submit to CRA
  5. ie NET $100 + $25 cleaning fee = $125, which translates into Company income
  6. ALL Income derived from Sales needs a GST value added
  7. DO i submit to CRA the possible inherent tax of $5.95 ?

Have you gotten an y CLEAR response from anyone ?

Thx

Peter
