Insurance for hosts that’s aren’t owners

Hi there! My partner recently purchased a cabin and I am managing bookings and marketing for the unit. I purchased the furnishings. I also handle the cleaners and yard maintenance team. But I don’t own the property.

I’m having trouble figuring out what kind of insurance I need to make sure I’m covered in the event something happens to a guest while they stay.

any suggestions?

I believe that the owner should insure the property and is ultimately liable for personal injury sustained by guests, visitors, contractors and employees.

You are, in effect, either an employee or an independent contractor and you have no personal liability for anything other than criminal acts perpetrated by you or gross negligence, such as running over a guest with your car because you were in some way impaired.

Insurance companies take a dim view of attempts to insure property that doesn’t belong to the policy holder.
