Is it legal to rent a room in one’s own place . I live in Barcelona

Does anybody know if the Ayuntamiento in Barcelona can penalize renting a room for short stays to tourists in one’s own house ? I consulted with Air bnb and they sent me this info “e Airbnb ha lamentado que el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona proponga prohibir el alquiler de habitaciones turísticas en toda la ciudad y ha pedido dialogar sobre esta medida.“..but I don’t know if it has been put into practice or if they can legally forbid it . Any info will be most welcome
