Does anybody in the area know a good tax attorney? I'm specifically looking for one who can help me with an "occupancy tax" (TOT) issue for my rental. The county is telling me I owe occupancy taxes prior to 2017, the year AirBnB started voluntarily charging guests for the county TOT.
Is anybody else experiencing this issue? I started renting my cabin in 2015, so for 2 years, there were no TOTs collected for my bookings. In 2017, AirBnB signed an agreement with Sonoma County to start collecting the TOT, and according to the signed agreement, all taxes prior to 2017 would be waived. But the county is telling me that agreement is not true.
So, I desperately need an attorney who has experience with these issues.
Any hosts out there who know of one who can help me navigate this?
