Pet fee

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me. How do I add on a fee for a pet for a booked reservation where the guests have decided to bring their dog?... I've tried to request extra money but it says "Validation failed: This reservation is not fully paid"

Send a request through the Resolution Centre  @Jane2911

You can’t request money until after the guest has fully paid for the reservation and you have no way to know when that is (other than to try to request money). For this reason we request pet fees one week before check-in.

@Jane2911   Hi there and welcome to the wonderful world of having to ask for a Pet fee!

You will want to use the Resolution Center to have the guest pay for their pet.  However:

1.  You cannot submit the request until they have paid for their visit.  If you are still getting the validation failed message, wait and submit your request the next day and the next day etc. onward until the request is successfully submitted.  Be sure to tell the guest that you have sent the request for the pet fee and remind them to log in to their traveler account because....

2.  The guest must log in through a browser to their AirBnB account in order to pay the request.  A Resolution Center Request cannot (currently) be paid via the App on a phone or tablet.  (This is a programming glitch that no one seems to care to fix.)

As a guest I have found that the final payment does not happen until 10 to 15 days before check-in. I personally would not spend months attempting a daily money request that is certain to fail.

@Lisa723  -- I guess I should have made that note on my response.  I try once at booking to see if the guest has paid in full.  If I get the validation failed message, I wait until 8 days before arrival and try again.  If the guest does not respond to the request, no door code is sent.

Hi there @Jane2911 ,

We’re really pleased to share some details with you that were recently announced! In the coming weeks, Hosts will be able to add a Pet fee to their listing.

We have been listening to Host feedback, just like yours, so please do let us know how you like the new service by sharing your thoughts here on the Community Center once it has launched.

Thanks again,

Stephanie

@Stephanie  A little feedback to the Pet fee option.  Thank you so much for the addition!  It is nice to know that the guests are looking to bring a pet with them.  It would be nice to be able to limit the number of pets a guest can bring.  Additionally, it would also be nice for the host to be able to annotate if the fee is per visit or per night.  Lastly, I would like to be able to charge a per pet fee as an option, similar to the extra guests fee.

Also, it would be nice if the guest had to provide registration of service for their animal to Airbnb to be legit, we had a guest that stated their animal was a service animal and the dog was NOT trained to follow any command of the owners and was running around our deck and they had a hard time getting him back...we have had a lot guest pets that were better trained than the "service" dog.
