Shameful Airpolicy

Airbnb's airpolicy for guest parking conflict resolution is shameful. Their policy is a host only needs to provide 'A' parking space. Adequacy doesn't matter, nor does accuracy of the listing Photo for parking. Furthermore, misrepresentation of the parking space by the host in an Airbnb message feed doesn't matter either. The renter has no recourse! This is a deplorable policy!

Difficult to comment as you haven't said what the issue is @Timothy702

What was wrong with the parking space ?

@Frances3408 The parking space is too small to fit a Sprinter van. Not enough room due to its dimensions & constructions. The main constriction is a large garbage shed which isnt in the listing picture, description, nor any of my pre-booking communication with the host. All of my pre-booking communication was centered on the adequacy of guest parking. If I cant safely & secure my van, no bueno. The guest parking can fit a small to mid-sized car comfortably.

If you confirmed with the host that your van would fit the parking available and the host confirmed that it would I can see why you would be upset .

In that situation you would have had the option to ask. airbnb to cancel the booking penalty free so you could find alternative accommodation that met your requirements @Timothy702

@Timothy702

If you provided the dimensions of the Sprinter Van to the Host and they said it would fit the parking spot, then I agree with @Helen3 that Airbnb might work with you on canceling the stay with a refund.

That said, many properties will not accomodate your sprinter van; especially in large cities. We mention in our listing that we can only accomodate passenger vehicles in our driveways; not oversized vehicles, RV's, trailers, or boats. Free street parking is available. However, some areas restrict parking oversized vehicles and RVs on the street.

@Timothy702. Sorry to hear this. I suspect the host had no idea how big a Sprinter Van is.

I've had guests bring a massive fishing boat (not disclosed) that wouldnt fit in the generous tandem carport either. Luckily the listing had a long driveway and its a safe neighbourhood. Guest never complained but I took references to "park you boat" off the listing after that 😉

I think you would need to find a place with a double, locked up garage with a higher ceiling to suit all your stated needs, which will reduce the list of suitable properties significantly .
