Tax in British Columbia

How do I see how much tax is being charged on my listing?  My understanding is that Airbnb collects and remits the 8% PST and the 3% MRDT.  I still have to have 5% GST charged though.  How do I check that appropriate taxes are being charged?

@Kate1749

You see totals in Transaction History, as explained here:

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1036/how-does-occupancy-tax-collection-and-remittance-by-airbnb-...

Taxes charged:

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/2283/occupancy-tax-collection-and-remittance-by-airbnb-in-canada

To check example of total taxes charged to guests:

- Choose "price calculator" from the Calender, when managing the listing.

or

- Simulate a booking on your own listing

Hope this helps,

Emiel

Thanks @Emiel1

I simulated a booking on my own listing and the tax line was only for the PST 8%.  Their website help section says that they collect the MRDT 3% as well, but I can't find where to add that and there certainly isn't anywhere to add the 5% GST I have to remit.  This is beyond frustrating!

Hi @Kate1749 You can't if Airbnb is charging the guest.  You can only tell what the guest is charged in Currently Hosting. To see if you have to submit any tax, go to your earnings page and go to Gross Earnings. You should see any occupancy tax there that you are responsible for and you can also download a CSV file for Excel

See Gross Earnings  at

And

You don't have to worry about it if Airbnb is automatically charging the guest. Check any current guests to see the Occupancy taxes being charged to the guest and calculate if all the taxes are being included.

In your Gross Earnings,  if your Occupancy Taxes are zero, you have nothing to do.
