Those of you who are apartment-renters and host on Airbnb: Any suggestions for renter's insurance that will cover Airbnb?

Hey there,

I currently rent, and me and my landlord are looking into doing Airbnb together with renting out the spare room in my apt. I know it's wise to get a backup personal insurance in addition to Airbnb's coverage, but is there anything you recommend for someone who is a renter? I wouldn't be getting homeowner's insurance since I don't own the home. Most insurance companies I've found for Airbnb only offer it as an add-on to homeowner's. Or would I need to have the landlord update his homeowner's insurance and split the cost with me?

@Alaska6 You are very sensible not to rely on Aircover as most of it is not insurance at all. Make sure your lease is updated so that it is clear who is responsible for any damage to the property and its fixtures and fittings. If it is a joint venture with the landlord then any additional insurance costs (on either side) could be considered as costs to be taken into account before any profit is split between you.
