Trusting Guests

Trusting Guests

Just wanting to know if anyone out there is having issues trusting a current guest?  Our current guest checked in last night and has already violated our No Pet Policy.  We got Airbnb involved, and received an apology from the guest and assurance that there will be no more issues with the dog. What the heck?

@RomeHome-Property-Management0  "no more issues"? you need to charge them for the pet, and i'd charge them double cos they lied to you.

not sure I can say "all guests nowadays can't be trusted". most are great, some not so great. i don't think lying to hosts is a new thing.

@RomeHome-Property-Management0  It would be foolish to trust guests who willfully violated your policy and snuck pets or extra people into the property. The only way they can meaningfully assure you that there won't be any more issues would be to leave.

But getting Airbnb's haphazard customer service involved every time a guest breaks a rule or loses your trust is not a workable solution. All they can do for you is make the whole situation ten times more complicated, through some combination of miscommunication, incompetence, and inconsistency. It's not enough to just have House Rules; you also need a plan for how you're going to enforce them.
