Airbnb map feature not working

Does the airbnb map feature sometimes fail to work? The map appears to show the area of the home but has no way to zoom in or out of the location in order to tell it's distance relative to other things. How do I determine the location? This has lead me to book a location I do not want. It is too far away from the area I would like to stay.

Hi @Oji0:

Indeed there are some problems with the map, but they are related to browser adjustments and not to AirBnB implementation. You can find this issue described in Internet.

What is more important than the map, is the listing description and communication with the host about that issue, because AirBnB is trying to NEVER show the real location on the map for your safety!

E.g. I have two listings in the same permisis but they are shown with three blocks distance.

There are even hosts finding their beachfront  listing in the water 😉

Regards and Happy New Year

"Indeed there are some problems with the map, but they are related to browser adjustments and not to AirBnB implementation. You can find this issue described in Internet." -- not so helpful! could use a better "pointer" to the information...

Has anyone figured out what these settings are? I really want my map back..

If you have an ad-blocker (such as "AdBlocker" :-), try turning it off, or at least turning it off for AirBnB, then re-launching the page.

I have tried removing addblocker and the map is still hidden. It just happende from one day to another, that my computer want show it. Any other tips?

Hey @Søren4,

Welcome to the community!

Have you tried a different browser as well?

I have the same issue - all of sudden the thumbnail with map view is gone.  I prefer to see both the image of the rental and location at the same time - anything else is a bit useless, really.  I have Chrome, but prefer Safari.  Is there no way you can make this view available for all browsers?

Perfect. thank you.

The map was failing to load on my Mac book / using Chrome...

As  I had AdBlocker on...

Turn AdBlocker off as you say, and the AirBnB map loads.

Thanks!

Nope, did not work for me. I know it isn't me because I tried it at work yesterday and at home today and on multiple computers and networks, all with adblock off and after multiple restarts. I've used Abnb for years and never had this issue, suddenly IE, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on home and work  network and home and work computers (and wife's iPad) all fail to load the map. I am an IT professional. Trust me, this is an airbnb issue. I'm guessing it will resolve itself eventually.

Glad the ad block worked for some though. That is not my problem unfortunately. Thanks for the tip though.

Any luck, yet? Not working for us, either 😞

I used Airbnb 2 yrs ago. It was super easy to navigate and find a room in the area of Toronto I needed to be in. Now, I;ve been on the site twice, for over an hr and keep getting redirected to other cities I don't want. I'm no idiot, I know my way around websites, but the Airbnb site really sucks! If there was another alternative to Airbnb I'd be there in a second. I can't even find the map feature that show the areas of town where rentals are. Please simplify and correct the navigational puzzles. No one wants to spend hrs jumping through hoops ust to rent a room for a few days.

That makes no sense; my safety??

I agree, I think it was meant to say "the host's safety."

wrong answer! Airbnb used to show a map of the area you selected so if your looking for a more specific spot, you cannot. For example, I was looking for a accomodation at Balay beach in Olongapo City region, but all I get is 240 listings spread miles apart. I will quit using Airbnb. There must be better. Airbnb webmaster has messed up a formerly good thing.
