Delayed or missing payment to host

Hello,

My guests stayed from 9/23 to 9/26 but I haven't received a payment from Airbnb yet, nor have I received any e-mail from them.

Shouldn't there be a dedicated line for hosts who haven't received payments owed them.

@Bill69  I don't know about a dedicated line, but what have you done about contacting Air BNB?  If you have an idea about developing a dedicated line, perhaps the Host Voice section of this Community Ctr would be a good way to bring other hosts to the conversation.  Air BNB is watching what comes up on Host Voice

I finally did find a phone number to call Airbnb customer service, but it should not have been that difficult. I got it from a discussion group. An organization as big as Airbnb should have an easy to find link to various ways of contacting them and an online chat option as well.

It did take a while for someone to answer the phone. The person who answered was quite friendly, and acknowledged that a payment should have been made to me but he could not figure out why the payment was not made, nor was he able to initiate a payment to me. He said he would contact someone who would be able to send the funds to my account but who knows? If something like this happened to me, guaranteed it's happened to other people. It's a little scary to think that a global scale company allows not insignificant payments (over $1000) to members to fall through the cracks. If I hadn't taken the initiative to track down a number and wait on hold for quite a long time, it's quite likely that the error would never have surfaced.

Since I'm not familiar with the ways of communicating my thoughts and concerns in a community based discussion group, I am hoping that you might pass on this message to the appropriate people.

Thank you for responding to my initial thread.

Bill,

Thank you for posting.  I am presently having the same issue.  Airbnb primarily makes there money by using the booking price between day of booking to the day they have to pay out.   They have very little incentive to payout on time other than frustrated hosts.  I have called, emailed, tweeted,,,, basically spent two days trying to get paid to no avail.   No explanation, was lied to in that they stated the funds have been released yet when asked to show proof because payoneer stated they had received no funds airbnb declined to prove.  I am still waiting for an explanation and payment.  They have excalated and prioritized which means they may respond in a week.   I think I'm done with Airbnb.  I had a successful year yet I am very concerned with the problems of payouts that seem to be arising latley.

Tim

Have you solved your problem? Airbnb has not payed me yet. We had our first guests last week - we now have our third couple as guests and so we have not been payed so far. The worst thing is that I have called, written emails and on chats dozen and dozen of times every day since last week and everyone is just saying the same thing over and over again: we will excalate it and someone will call you within 48 hours. NO ONE EVER CALLED. So- this huge company not only steals money (going again the signed contract) from us but does not even explain anything or apolozise and even does tell lies!!! I have a small baby and we have invested all in this property so we now count on this money.  I would have appreciated that someone told us : ok, we have a problem, we might solve it in one week, two weeks whatever but say something. This lack of communication with their custumers is absolutely unacceptable, UNRESPECTFUL and DISGUSTING towards customers. I will have to call all the booked guests and tell them to rebook through booking.com. I am astonished. And deeply DISGUSTED by the lack of respect of Airbnb towards their costumers. Please if someone is facing the same problem let me know in order to organize a class action? Such a huge company with lots of profit should invest more money in the custumer support (the one from booking.com is eccellent) instead of underpaying some people in india or china that - not their fault- cannot do anything to help customers.  And instead of stealing money from their customers.

Are you new to Air BNB, @Carol590?  If so, are you aware there is a often a 30 hold on the payments for new hosts?  Perhaps that is what is going on for you.

If so why the customer support didn’t tell me anything at all? ( I call and write them approximately 20 times a day). Why nothing at all is mentioned on the contract I signed with them??

Also- I am cohost with my partner- the property is newly listed but he has been an host for 4 years for other properties.

@Carol590  I was hoping my response might give you a little insight and perhaps reduce your frustration.  Apparently I was not successful.  I can point you to a source of information about this platform that could help you get adjusted to Air BNB.  Here is an article about payout.

Thanks Linda. I read that carefullly so I think my problem should finish tomorrow Thursday.

I hope it will de like that. Really, I am not wishing to host nobody more before being sure that Airbnb pays.

After this first host, in next cases I understood that I should recieve the payment the day after my guests check in. Is that right?

Does it works for you?

I am really concerned cause I rejected some people I knew because of this reservation... and I am still waiting a time that seems excesive for me.

In that case,  why should it be so? In fact we did our part and have received NOTHING in exchange for it. I'm too disappointed with Airbnb.

Do you mean that when you are are new in Airbnb you should wait 20 days fornyou payment? Since when? After the next day your gests come in?

I am in Argentina. Have given my bank data in February 25th. My first guest come in March 1st till 6th.

They have left the appartment a week ago, and they have payed butvI have not received anything from Airbnb.

I am very dissapointed for this and most of all, cause I have no mail, no phone number in my country, neither an online help to have some answer to this.

Just a place called "Help" and after choosing the option that I have a problem with payment and also clicking I am reporting a problem and described it... I just receive inmediatly from the website that I shoud not expect an answer from this message.

It really seems a very bad joke!!

In the Help Center, using "payout" search term, you will find the information about Air BNB process with payouts.  Included in that article is the probable 30 day delay in payment.  Therefore I would imagine that payment "coming soon" would be sometime early April.  Not sure why Air BNB does this as it was not the process when I started several years ago.  Hopefully all will go smoothly for you after this 😄   Good luck!

They do it to make more money. The longer they have your money, the more interest they make. Imagine hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting in your acct, everyday is a payday for them.
