Guest cancels but wants to stay over night

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,

this is the first time that a cancellation occurs, so I am not sure how to deal with this.

My guest arrived yesterday evening, but half an hour ago (2.30 pm), decided he wants to cancel the rest of his stay.

He also tells me he will leave TOMORROW MORNING. Apparently, he believes that the two days that are non-refundable (yesterday night, plus today, Sunday, because he did not leave before 12.00 noon, as is my policy) and for which I will get paid normally, permits him to stay over tonight.

However, I found this rule, that says ''the guests are required to leave your space as soon as they cancel''.

I also noticed that AirBnB automatically shows today's night as free and available to any other traveller.

Is this so? Does he have to leave right now? What am I supposed to tell him?

Thanks in advance,

Nikolaos

If he has cancelled he needs to go immediately. Your refund policy will apply, and that's his problem, not yours. He is effectively now a trespasser. Call Airbnb for them to sort this for you.

Thanks for your quick reply, Gordon.

I already notified AirBnB, still waiting for their answer (or action),  so I posted my question here.

  • A reservation is officially canceled when the guest clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page,

Thanks a lot Susan.

I am now writing a report to AirBnB, hoping they notify the man. I do not want to be rude, despite the fact that he was, plus, I do not know whether he is aware of the regulation.

Perhaps he thinks that he can stay overnight, because the day is non-refundable, though this was done by AirBnB, because at noon (check-out time), he had still not told me what he intented to do.
