Guest got clothes stuck in washing machine

So I am a new host and a guest decided to put a wash on a delayed timer. The machine door wouldn’t open to my 3 month old machine, so he text me after 10pm about it. I go round and the kitchen is smoked out as he is cooking a pizza in the oven with the grill pan still in it. The washing machine handle is floppy and door won’t open. I’m panicking but try to stay calm as it’s only my 2nd guest. He was a really nice guy and left the place clean and tidy but I was regretting not asking for a deposit as I don’t know if I will have to pay to get a new door handle. It was s stressful situation for us both. I relied on the machine for my own use too. Do I write this in a review?
