I have been using Airbnb for nearly 5 years, and I'm always the guy who recommends Airbnb over Hotels (for obvious reasons). Throughout my travels to Europe, Asia, West US and East US I have had no issues.
Until this past week.
My host violently began pounding on my door and began to drunkenly accuse me of several things. He claimed that I was looking around his room mates room, and that I had an additional guest. Neither of these things were true, he was clearly just drunk and upset about something else. He wanted me gone, and he didn't care what he had to lie about.
Now, Airbnb is refusing to give me a refund. Instead, they have given me a $50 coupon, which I do not think is adequate. So, I'm wondering, is this a typical resolution? Is this what I should expect?
Hello @Derek163 ,
Sorry to read about this unpleasant experience. I hope you gave the host the review he deserves ?
it is not clear if you or the host cancelled the reservation, nor the lenght of the remaining stay ?
So what was your actual financial damage ? Did you clearly communicated the situation with Airbnb ?
IMO at least the nights you could not stay in the accomodation should be refunded.
Best regards,
Emiel
The total damage was $100 USD
I communicated the situation to Airbnb via the phone, to several representatives. The total stay was only for 1 night, but I was abruptly woken up and kicked out hours before check out time.
