How do you get that first photo to fit your Airbnb listing?

We have a difficult time finding a photo that will fit on our Airbnb listing.

Because Airbnb stretches the photo, it often cuts off the important info in the photo.

Thouh when a guest clicks on the photo slideshow, the photos then look fine.

Is there some trick to getting that first photo to fit on the page correctly?

Its extremely frsutrating.

Unfortunately there's no trick to get that done. The only way is trial and error.

From experience, it seems that Airbnb stretches the photo top to bottom from roughly the horizontal centre line.

What eventually worked for me was taking the photo so the features I wanted visible were close to the centre line.

Roughly, the same applies for the left to right stretching: have things close left or right to the vertical centre line.

It meant trying a few different zooms and angles like straight on, to the left/right kneeling down etc. when taking the photo. I uploaded all and then tried making each one the main photo in turn until I found one that I was happy with. I then removed the others.
