Kids only allowed of 8 years and older, but no way to set this in the system

HI All,

We are new to AirBnb and have a luxury villa in South Africa.

We've just received a request from guests who want to come with a 1,5 year old child although we've listed our villa as not suitable for kids.

In our opinion you should be able to only show the villa and you can choose for adults and the children option doesn't show as we only expect kids from 8 years and older. We think you should be able to adjust the age.

Is that possible in future or how do other people deal with this as now AirBnb says we only have a 50% acceptance rate because people requested with this kid of 1,5 years old.

@Dennis-and-Anouk0  So sorry for your acceptance rate and the email ( it was just a system so don’t worry too much )

for your concern, now sadly it was no function to adjust an age for a kid. What you can do now is writing down in your house rule that you allow a kid from 8 and older. You can also add a reason like you have an easy break beautiful items in your place.

Another option, if you open an instant booking. You can Set no Children as when a parent what to book they can’t instantly book but have to send you an inquiry. But if they search with correct number of guest like 2 adults 1 children, they may not see your listing.

Thanks for your reply! We will definitely put in the text, but we do think AirBnb should change this in the near future as it's also deceiving for guests because they think they can book your place but they can't.

As @Nutth0  said - guests can send you booking requests and if you decline it is counted against you. Not fair, of course. We had this problem until Airbnb introduced "family collection", since then, such inquiries and requests become rare.

We have no problem with hosting kids 10+ y.o. but Airbnb settings options are just 0-2 and 2-12 y.o. It would be better if we could set the range by ourselves, for example, someone with steep stairs could host infants up to 6 months old who still don't walk or crawl and then 7 y.o. and older.

Yes we should indeed be able to tick a box and change the age so your place only shows up for those guests. For us it's 8 years and older.
