Photographic ID

Good afternoon

I am a new host and expecting my very first guests on 7th July.  My apartment is in Spain.

I have sent the guest a message requesting that photo ID is forwarded for herself and the two guests

travelling with her.  In the Andalucia Region we now have to have our properties licenced and a proper log

kept of all guests who will be using the apartment.

To date I have not received a single message from this booking and am starting to feel a little panicked.

Especially as my apartment is all brand spanking new, so jittery anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Sally

Hello Sally - this sounds a little tricky yet worrisome.  I would contact Airbnb explaining the local law and ask them to intervene with the guests.  Perhaps a note from Airbnb to the guests would get a reply.  Otherwise, you may have to decline as it appears you would be breaking a law per local ordinance.  Maybe you could send the guest one last email saying that by xx date, you will be forced to decline if they do not provide the required id verification.  Best of luck with this.

I agree with Roger - give a date by which photo ID must be received - and explain politely (as I am sure you have) that it is a new legal requirement in Andalucia.

If they have not responded by the required date, then ask AirBnB to cancel them. Don't do it  yourself as you will be penalised.

Send them a note on that date notifying them that you have passed the booking to AirBnB for cancellation.
