This booking is ***not*** happening!

3 July (morning) = inquiry re booking for 5 July (1 week).  I answer her questions re pets etc.

3 July (morning) = booking is confirmed.

3 July (morning) = request to add night of 4 July.  Not possible.

3 July (morning) = guest wants to change the booking to 2 guests.  Agreed to.
3 July (afternoon) = guest mentions that the booking is for her husband "He will be at work all day and the cats will be shut in the room.  He is going to be looking after them while I am overseas." No mention of who the other guest is.

Multiple red flags here!!
I contact the guest, who had only created the profile last month, explaining the policy re 3rd party bookings. She asked her husband to create an account and call AirBnB to get the booking transferred.  Her problem, not mine!

Today (morning) = notified by AirBnB that booking is cancelled by guest
Today = two phone calls from AirBnB saying they were working with the husband to process his verifications/ID.

Hmmm....  hope I get a booking for those nights now.  It would be a case of 3rd time lucky.
First booking had to be cut short by a week due to one of the guests having a medical emergency, requiring surgery!
Second booking, which would have covered the short stay of the other guests?  That's the one this post is about...
Third time?  Here's hoping!

Oh lucky you 🙂

Do you allow cats? How many cats does he intend to bring? You know Airbnb doesn't cover any damages done by pets?

I would turn my IB off until July 5th and just decline his request. Or block one of those dates so he is unable to book.

Yes...
I do allow pets (negotiable) but have only had 3 or 4 requests in as many years, usually from returning expats - being an island nation probably has something to do with that!   I always let the potential guests know that I expect them to care for and attend to their pet as I do not offer a pet sitting service.
Now he and the FOUR cats will indeed have to find somewhere else to stay as some of those dates are no longer available for him.
