Travel Credit - should it be applied automatically?

Travel Credit - should it be applied automatically?

My partner recently made a booking using his Airbnb account for an upcoming trip that we have planned, as he had $50 Airbnb travel credit to use.

The email from them states that it will be: automatically applied to your first booking, as long as the total cost is a minimum of $200. Keep in mind that your credit expires on January 09, 2018.

The booking cost was a total of $272, so the reservation is eligible for the credit from what I can see, yet it was not deducted from the amount. Have we done something wrong?

@Lindsey6 Hmm, that's odd.  If the email said it would be automatically applied, then it should have been.  Sometimes users are given travel credit (i.e. the Super Host bonus) but you have to enter a coupon code.  Did your partner's travel credit have a coupon code? Also, you might check the expiration date.

If the travel credit is still active, you might contact Airbnb to see if your partner can still claim it on their reservation.  Here's how to contact Airbnb:

Thanks @Clare0, yes I though it was strange as well. The expiration date is Jan 2018 so it is well within date. He wasn't given the credit as a host, it was from a referral, so there is no coupon code either. I can't see any reason why the credit would be inactive so looks like I'll need to find out through Airbnb - thanks for the link!

Can you provide the contact info for Airbnb? I'm having the same issue with my credit not being applied at check out.

Thank you!

Best,

Mim

@Mim1@Meghna2 Travel Credits, obtained from friend referrals, are applied automatically when the cost of the reservation is $75USD excluding guest fees (i.e. cleaning fees), Airbnb service fees and taxes, if applicable.

If the Travel Credit wasn't automatically applied, it means that the reservation did not qualify for the Travel Credit.  Here's more info:

Hope this helps! 🙂

Someone referred me to earn a $40 credit toward my first booking of $75 or more. I am booking a place that is $163 nightly, excluding fees. At checkout the credit is not showing it. I am afraid of proceeding without the credit. Where is the first time new user credit and How come it’s not automatically populating

@Yida0. Check to make sure you have any Travel Credits.  You can find them here:

www.airbnb.com/invite

Or, you can look in your Payment Method section where you can see any Travel Credits and / or Coupons.

Also, when you received your referral email, did you use the link to create a new Airbnb account?  I see that you have some previous trips so the referral will only work for new users.

Hi @Clare. I have the same issue with Yida.I'm a first time user of AirBnB. Just signed up today using the link in the referral email sent. I've been invited by my niece and I was planning to use it it for a trip. Total price is $155.00 before service fee. I'm already on step three for payment but I'm not seeing any indication that a $22 off will be applied. I would like a guarantee this will be applied before I process the payment.

I already sent a ticket to airbnb but i'm not getting any response.

Please help!

 @Valerie268 Sorry to hear this!

Please check to be sure that your Travel Credit has been applied to your account through this link:

www.airbnb.com/invite

You can also check this way:

On Airbnb's app:  Tap on the person icon then on Credits and Coupons

On a web browser (PC or Laptop):  Click on your profile picture and in the drop down menu select Travel Credit.

Is the place you are trying to book cost at least $75 USD before Airbnb's service fee?  Your Travel Credit should automatically apply for these types of reservations.

Yes, Clare, I met all the qualifications. My booking was for $171. Issue was resolved yesterday when i called customer service. I'm one happy Airbnb user! 🙂

@Valerie268 Happy to hear it was resolved for you!  Did Airbnb say what the problem was?  I would love to know!

@Clare0 I didn't bother to ask. I was just too happy it got resolved. 🙂

@Valerie268 That's ok. Just curious for future reference to help others, but glad your situation was resolved!

do you have the number of customer service? I have the same issue? thanks

Hello, I am wondering if the referral credits will also automatically apply on 2nd payment if I chose the pay 50% upfront? Thanks.
