cancellation

Me and the guest agreed to a cancellation.

I proceeded to cancel the reservation and now my calendar stays blocked on that date. I have another person trying to reserve on that date. How can I unblock the dates so the person can be pre-approved?

Hi,

What was the reason of the cancellation ?

Because normally the guest should have cancelled, not you. Now the dates stay blocked and Airbnb penalizes you. Best regards,Emiel

@Ramon49, if the host does the cancellation, then the dates on the calendar will be blocked and the host will have significant penalties applied.

(No superhost, automatic bad review, guests will be scared off, lower search rankings, etc.)

In the future, if the guest wants to cancel, the guest must do the cancellation. Always.

On AirBnB, the host should never do the cancellation unless the host has an unavoidable reason of their own to want the cancellation to happen.

If you are a new host and you did not know this, you can try to contact AirBnB directly and explain that you did not know what you were doing. They may or may not unblock the days for you, but asking AirBnB is definitely the only to get your calendar unblocked.

Hi, yes that was the case, and in fact I am new to this. How do I contact them?

Hello @Ramon49,

To contact Airbnb support you can ...

Log in and click on "Help" and then type "contact airbnb" in the "Ask a question ..." box. Then click on the "I want to contact Airbnb" link.
Then click on the "Contact page" link near the end of the page.

You can also type "contact airbnb" in the "Search the community" box on these forum pages where you posted your question. Scroll down a little in the list of suggestions that appears and click on the "Contact Airbnb: A Community Help Guide[UPDATED]" one. That lists phone numbers and ways to contact them via Twitter or Facebook.

As a new host, you can find helpful information in the posts at the following link.
