I'm presuming that the guest was offered and chose the "Pay less up front" option.
If that's the case Airbnb takes 1/2 the amount from them straight away and 1/2 a few days before the reservation checkin date.
They can't change the payment schedule. For the second part payment, Airbnb will automatically charge the same card that was used for the first part payment.
As the guest pays Airbnb and doesn't pay the host directl, all payment issues can be sorted out only between the guest and Airbnb.
If the above doesn't explain the issue then all you can do is advise the guest to contact Airbnb support. There should be contact information in the reservation confirmation email that they received.
