Hi, we have a property in Brooklyn Pretoria (South Africa). We are interested in running a medium to long term rental on this property. As this is an investment property the location is central in an upmarket area. Is it possible to run a med-long term rental, 6-12 months (appears to be average for long term rentals on air bnb) in an unfurnished house. What is the best approach to list such a property on air bnb?
Many thanks, Gareth
Airbnb is not really set up for long term rentals. If you want to do long term rentals do this through a local estate agent or similar where you can credit check tenants, do ID checks, take up previous landlord references, have them sign a contract etc @Gareth85
@Gareth85 AirBnB does have long term hosts but I think it's ripe for problems and I don't think you would want them involved in your contract with any mid/ long term guests. They don't offer you any real legal/financial protection (ignore what you read on their website), their involvement will muddy the waters if there are problems with your guest, AND they take/charge a pretty hefty amount of money.
I am also thinking of doing a more long term rental 1 month-6 months in a furnished house in denver. What fees does airbnb take? I'm having trouble figuring out all the fees and taxes. UGH!
Hello @Jana266 - have a look at Airbnb Help Centre for information on fees. Also remember in the US there is a legal issue with accepting bookings over 28 days as it can lead to tenancy rights.
Hi Gareth85. I know your post is a little old, however I just wanted to check if you managed to make your property in Brooklyn full airbnb functional or your have leased it for long term. I would be glad to assist in becoming a Co host for your property. Please kindly advise
