I have two inquiries for the upcoming holiday weekend. One reservation wanted two nights and I responded that we need a three night stay. This reservation had 10 guests staying at our vacation home (sleeps 10). They responded and agreed but have not heard from them again. The second inquiry came in for a three night stay but only two guests. Very little was said about this reservation in the guest inquiry. The pricing for the two reservations is almost the same 2 night with 10 guests compared to 3 nights with 2 guests. I just have a gut feeling that this group changed to someone else requesting a reservation but only saying they are a 2 guest group. What is my recourse if many more people show up. Our house is far away from us but we have a local caretaker. Any thoughts on these two requests that seem a little odd when compared to each other?
If you are suspicious, you could be sure to add to your house rules that only registered guests are allowed on the premises and that unregistered guests will cause their reservation to be forfiet immediately without refund. Then you can remind the enquirer to read the house rules and ask them to name all the members covered in the researvation when they make the booking request. If it's them, they'll either book under the 10 and do what you ask or they will run away 🙂
