G'day & I hope this message finds everyone well. My name is Passion and I'm an Airbnb host from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I would like to raise an issue on the recent Airbnb software updates. This is regarding the number of beds listed on the listing. I noticed that we could manually control the number of beds before the software has been updated. Taking, for example, one of my listing, Passion #3 (link is attached on the bottom), which previously, I can manually set the number of beds to 7 beds (2 king-size beds, 5-floor mattresses & 2 couches) that can accommodate up to 11 pax in the unit. My unique selling point is to cater to a big group of friends, family, and people hosting birthday parties etc.
Guests are attracted to the number of beds in the unit and also as they can filter to set as many beds as they like. Nevertheless, with the updated software, the Airbnb hosts have to key in the type of beds and the system automatically counted only bed-frame type of beds and floor mattresses and couches aren't counted.
The problem with this is that my listing has been affected as the number of beds are reduced from 7 beds to 2 beds only (2 king-size beds). Thus, it seems unappealing to guests as their first thought to booking a place is to have sufficient beds, not to mention that some guests can set the filters to 3 beds or more. Also, normally guests don't click into the listing to read the entire descriptions (even though I did thoroughly explained about the breakdown of the beds) as they are scrolling through the page which has a variety of listings to choose from. First thing as a guest myself will see and is attracted to is the summary of the listing, which is the "Type of Place (eg: Entire Apartment)", "Number of beds (2 beds)", "Name of the listing", "Price per night" and the "Review". Consequently, this would and could affect my business and profit. As already proven for the past few days, there hasn't been any bookings for Passion #3 when previously this listing was quite "hot" and demanding.
I am asking humbly as a superhost, to all the hosts and superhosts out there, who is facing the same problem as well? With good intentions, I would like to gather everyone with the same issue to plead Airbnb to allow hosts to have control and manually set the number of beds.
