So far, looking at all the reviews my potential guests had gotten from other hosts, all is positive across the board, and so far I had no major problem, but I am fairly new to this, just had 12 bookings.
But now I am getting a bit more cautious, having read some horror stories here in the community forum by some hosts, about how their guests have behaved and what they have done to their place. So I follow up on those, and to my total surprise, the ones I can clearly identify, I am finding that the hosts actually leave very nice reviews for those guests they are identifying here as trouble makers. That startles me....
I understand we all like to be nice and say nice things about our guests in public, and the few guests I had that I didn't particularly like, not that they did anything wrong, I just left no review.
But when it comes to major damage or irresponsible bahavior, disregarding house rules, etc... isn't an honest review, worded politely, something we could/should do to help eachother, to prevent the next host from falling into a bad trap?
When it comes to guest/host selection I find Airbnb of not much help, they just put pressure on hosts to get those 5 star reviews and then appear of not much help when hosts run into serious problems with their guests. So these guest reviews we do are something we can control and use our input on. I really would like to be able to rely on them! Any thoughts on this?
