Changing a room mid-booking

Is there any way to alter an existing booking, where the guest has already arrived, to a different room?  I have a guest switching rooms within the same house (something he and I agreed on) and I can't see any way to get this done.  I can't alter the start date of the booking, and if I try to select the alternate room, it says the dates aren't available.

as far as I know, you can send him an alteration request where you will shorten his stay from let's say 6 nights to just 1 night (if he just arrived today). He has to agree on it. Then he has to book your other room. He will be refunded for the first room and will be charged for another room and your calendars will be updated - the first room will be available and another room will be shown as booked.

 

If he can't book another room for today or tomorrow then look at your availability settings/advance notice. Maybe it is set to 24 or more hours in advance, you should change it to "none". If you already have it set to "none" then maybe it is impossible to book more then 1 unit for the same dates (I am not sure)

@Christopher187 @Branka-and-Silvia0  However, if you do create two separate reservations, the guest ends up paying a higher percent service fee so it does increase their costs' sometimes by a lot. How much more depends on your type of listing.

The dates must (offcourse) be available on the calender of the new room. You can change the reservation by changing the room on the day of change  It will calculate new price if room is different priced. If price needs to be amended for some reason (special offer), change it manually.

@Christopher187 I encountered the same. And I asked Airbnb CS and they could not do it on their end.

 

What I did was to edit both listings and swap the contents a little bit if two rooms are a little different. Therefore, the room to be moved to will have the content and price which the current room has. After the guest moves out, you can switch back or just leave them as is. Just make sure that block the future dates which were booked for the listing of the room to be moved in to avoid double booking.
