Damages and Lost Bookings

We had a guest damage our bed frame yesterday.

The box spring ended up damaged as well.

They didn't notify us in the evening when it happened, but waited until 4:00pm today to ask if they can switch rooms.

This is the first time I will need to ask a guest for damages.

Because of the damage to the box spring and bed frame, I need to close the room until I can repair/replace - including a booking immediately following theirs.

Do I charge them for the bed frame, box spring, and lost bookings?

I don't want to be too harsh, but they began by lying to me about the damage and it will cost us money in repairs and lost bookings.

@Samantha360,

You did not mentioned what damage did occur.

You could contact Airbnb for advise.

They broke the bedframe - the steel rails are bent at an angle that no longer allows it to hold the bed up.

It might be possible that the damage is worse because they chose not to tell me last night and instead slept on the damaged bedframe, causing the bending to be more severe.

The wooden headboard is cracked where it connects to the steel rails.

The boxspring has rips and pieces of wood broken off from being pushed through the steel rails.

I need to close the room until I can get a new frame. The box spring may be salvagable.
