Hi Community
I've had a fire in my house. It is going to take at least 2 months to get it restored and for me to be able to offer guests a room.
I am concerned that I don't lose my Airbnb Super Host status. What do I need to do?
Best wishes
Mike
Do you have bookings that will need to be cancelled, @Mike403? Call Airbnb and they will help you get that sorted. Sorry you've had a fire. That's heartbreaking.
Thank you Lawrene - that's reassuring.

@Mike403 It's exteuating circumstances. I hope that Airbnb will take it into consideration. Do mention it to them.
Thank you Marzena - yes I can do that.

Hi @Mike403,
I JUST put my property on SNOOZE this morning. Flood crew was here yesterday (wow-nobody-saw-this-coming-storm in San Diego). Lost an interior/exterior wall, 2 windows and a door. I think the hardwood floor will survive. The dehumidifiers are emptying into the shower in the next room.
I've had to move my office into my formal dining room. Cozy.
Sleeping with the hummmmm of the fans/heaters/dehumidifiers...
Feburary 1 is the expected wake up-date, but we'll see how construction goes.
BTW, I am SO grateful that this is ALL that happened! I really have everything I need: a warm bed, food to eat, and loved friends and family (same thing, really) around me.
Put your place on SNOOZE. You can alter that any time.
It will be okay.
Best to you,
@Mike403, two other things:
1) make sure SNOOZE doesn't hurt your status. I am NOT an expert here.
2) cleaning up your place: there is an alternate to ozone... email me privately if your cleaning help doesn't know about it.
Things will get better,
Thank you Kimberly for your help, your kind thoughts and your experience!
Yes, I've had to put a blowup bed in my sitting room. It reminds me of my days in a camper van.
But it all could have been so much worse, and my insurance company are being very helpful.
I'll look into the 'snooze' idea thank you for that, and I will check out the ozone cleaning thing.
So much to learn!
My best wishes to you,
Mike
Hi @Matthew285, we got hit with a bunch of rain and crazy wind--nobody saw this coming. In Southern California we don't typically build our houses very well (remember the story of the 3 little pigs?) because we don't honestly have much 'weather' except BEAUTIFUL, so the only time we stress is when we have to camp out in weird places and nervously call our insurance companies... not beautiful, but consider what we have to be thankful for.
And how often does this happen?
I have a LOT to be thankful for.
Best!
