Guests using your mailing address?

Three-week guest arrived Saturday, today Tuesday the postman left a notification for them to pick  2 parcels from local post office. Guest did not tell me they would be using my address. There is so much going on in the world that  I am uncomfortable with this situation. Guest is from outside the country and here to 'learn English' I have read that mailing addresses can be used to establish residence, or send illegal items.

What would you do?

-confiscate the notification and pretend you saw nothing eventually the post office will return the item in days

- give them to guest with a warning to use the post office for their mail

- insist to know what the parcels are about?

Guest is first time user of ABB. I don't know if this has anything to do with but I think guest is comfortable too fast. Took a look at the room in the morning and guest decided to use the second pillow and different set of pillow covers than those I had put on the bed. Have not spoken about this yet to guest. I keep the extra in the rental room as my own room is full.

I would give them the notice and tell them they are not to receive mail at your address. They can open a PO box if they need to receive mail.

Thank you Cynthia and Chris!

Managed to track the packages by delivery notice(did not know it was possible by notice card number) and guest seems to be shopping online and shipping to address. Still am not comfortable and will ask them to receive them at the post office especially as I work outside now.

Recently guest order amazon.com. big boxes arrived at door.smaller ones put in our condo package box and I assume key to that in my small mailbox. I never check that mail and don't even remember getting a key at closing 5 yrs ago. Guest called for me to drive 20 miles one way to open box. I don't have key. Post office does not manage the lock. I would have to hire a handyman to drill old lock and replace.  I said no. No one asked if they could use my address for mail. I read that risks are fake business verification...illegal mail...packages or mail arriving after checkout....liabilities for receiving others mail....handling and returning and forwarding work...domestic terrorism....being accused of mismanagement of the mail...I told her I don't open the box and don't have a key. They need to call amazon.com and they will replace undeliverable merchandise. Mail man will miss the package big box key and figure it out and return to sender. I am not offering post office service. Us post office 1.5 miles...ups...fedex..private mail stores all very close. I am going to add to my rules.....I am unable to accept packages and mail at the condo address for multiple reasons. Please request list of postal options if u require mail delivery

I just finished a 4 week stay at an AirBNB, as part of moving to a new city. Before I made the booking, I inquired if I could use their address for delivery of items and mail. They were happy with that, and even said I could use mail redirection after my stay completed. Common courtesy would mean that your guest should have asked before using your parcel address. Unfortunately that art has disappeared from a lot of peoples ability these days.
