Oh yeah, I forgot about the "Oops!" bit Rob! Nothing more infuriating than a message you've just spent ages writing disappearing clean into oblivion, and then being taunted by an "Oops!" notification. Makes you want to throw your phone at the wall.. 😂
Thanks for the tip though. I should have thought of that because I frequently have to do exactly that with my messages here on the CC too, but sometimes even that doesn't work. Bonkers...
Hahaha! Brilliant! Love this Rob! Cheered me up no end on a grey and drizzly day in Dublin. What a tune too - always guaranteed to lift the spirits and put a smile on your face 😉
Slightly belated but a very Happy New Year to you and yours too, and to all the regular crew on the CC. May 2019 bring you all your hearts desire 🥂
Thanks Susan, as for me, if I can have one more year like last year where I have still been able to have Ade here as she has been for the last 49 years, have my hosting hit the great heights that it has.......and get a few accolades making meals for our senior citizens. I could not wish for much more in life than that Sue! It's a lovely balance between being busy and being appreciated.
I subscribe to Jibjab and I wanted to do something that would give the CC a laugh, something that would bring to us even more empathy with each other! Buggered if I know why I bothered Sue, it has sort of been accepted like yesterdays prawn shells. Never mind the idea was there!
Take care possum, only 4 months and you will be able to leave those drizzly days behind. Just to make you jealous, it's going to be 39c here tomorrow....41 down in the city. I think the suburban beaches are in for a hiding tomorrow!
Cheers.....Rob
Well here's hoping you have a lot more years of all those great things Rob, and that you have Ade still by your side for a long, long time to come ❤
And I'm very glad you bothered to make the little video anyway, it genuinely made me laugh so much that I watched it several times - it really brightened up a gloomy day! I'm pretty sure that the reason it got a bit of a disappointing reaction though, is not because the regulars didn't enjoy it, but very possibly because most of them haven't actually seen it. When it comes up on the feed when one is scrolling though, it appears as a garbled mess, full of scrambled letters, numbers and symbols, like some sort of coding or something, so people are probably just scrolling right by, thinking it's just another system glitch or error.
And what I wouldn't give for a little bit of that Australian sunshine right now... 😉
If you had a bit of this Aussie sunshine, I think you would want to retreatfrom it fairly quickly. Have a look at our forecast for today 3rd January........
Even up here in Mt Barker we are still going to go over the old century mark.
I have always told myself, I would love to have seen a white Christmas in my life....I think I am leaving my run a bit late!
I understand what you are saying by that card address line but I wanted to keep it short and clean, not full of my normal waffle, for once I wanted something else to be the 'hero' of the post!!!
All the best Susan to you and yours. I look forward to lots of your posts this year!
Cheers......Rob
And to you Ange, I would love to be in NY at the moment.
I don't want to get into the race thing but, a couple of years ago when we were in New York I have to tell you one of the hardest challenges one can undertake in life is to push a wheelchair around NY or Rome!....Rome because of uneven cobblestone pavements, and NY because of the sheer volume of people. It would have been impossible without the help of young African/American males. They, to a man, were just wonderful and all jumped in to help, clearing a path for us, opening subway barriers. They were just angels to us.
One subway station we got out at did not have an elevator to street level and as we stared at this 54 steps up to the street level these two young black guys came up and said , "Hey, we will do this"and they carried the wheelchair up that 54 steps. They are the salt of the earth to us.
Best picture I have ever taken, we came out of 'ground zero'! After the tour we grabbed a bite to eat and when we came out into the street again those massive searchlights were staring up into space. It had been hot and still in NY for a few days and a heat haze sat over the city at about what would have been the top of the twin towers. As those searchlight beams penciled there way into space they ballooned as the penetrated the heat haze.......
To me Ange this is my most poignant reminder of what had been.
All the best Ange, have a great year!
Cheers.....Rob
@Robin4 Beautiful pic. Yes, true, New Yorkers across the board are an extremely helpful bunch, all my visitors comment on it. Reminds me of a funnny story. I went to the assistance of an elderly man who was trying to drag a suitcase up the subway stairs. I quickly realized why, it weighed a ton! I was trying not to laugh at the ludicrous situation I had gotten myself into when out of the blue two people came to my rescue. They were as surprised at the weight as I was and we all struggled up the stairs with it laughing and taking wild guesses at what he had stuffed into it. Last I saw of him a cab driver was struggling to get it into the trunk along with a few passers by who had stopped to help.
All the best and beautiful to you.
One funny story I should have added while I had the opportunity, and talking about stairs.
While we were in Beijing in 2013 we met a hilarious New Zealand couple. He, as a sideline helped out a friend of his who was an undertaker. One evening they were commissioned to recover a deceased person from a third story apartment in Aukland. Being no elevator they had to wrap the deceased in a body bag and walk it down a few flights of stairs.....Half way down the body 'broke wind' ...it gave them such a shock they dropped the body and it rolled down the remaining two flights of stairs and waited for them at street level!!
Cheers......Rob
@Robin4 Hey, Rob, I somehow missed this, but I absolutely love it! Very cute. Thanks for the laugh.
Happy New Year to you as well, albeit a little late!
Despite my best self-centred egotistical efforts I have to say both Pauls definitely steal the show!
Happy new year to you too Mariann....don't let that grass grow under your feet!
Cheers.....Rob
Haha! This is amazing @Robin4, I clearly have a hidden (very very hidden) talent for dance! 🙂
Wishing you a very happy new year, I have high hopes that 2019 is going to be a good year.
