How do you unblock an expired reservation request? Or don't you?

I have blocked dates on my calendar as the time expired on the acceptance of the booking. However I don't beleive there was a confirmed acceptance on this booking just an enquiry. 

The traveller still wants to visit but I can't now refresh the booking or dates. 

Is there any way of unblocking the dates or am I being penalised for not accepting in time? 

any ideas or solutions welcome.
