Just missed that one

I have a bed and breakfast, we live here letting private rooms.  Anyone else had something similar?  I will try to keep it short.

First enquiry male photograph, with female name, ok not so bad, wants to book one night in my boudoir room, can he/ she check in early and leave late?  In the area for a photo shoot.  Once we were into the conversation the photo changed to a woman, she was asking what the lighting was like in the boudoir.  When I queried the photo change she said oh it’s a joint account !!  After a number of emails and me having to dig, she finally said she would be taking photos of her clients in lingerie in the boudoir and maybe the tub!!!!

I turned her down, one I didn’t want her clients, whoever they are coming through my house.  And two she was not honest from the beginning she was vague.  I told her I am a bed and breakfast not a photo studio for her and her clients.

Ok I had the sens to keep asking questions before I agreed the booking, but it didn’t feel good to have to be a detective.

@Christine1688 Thanks for the cautionary tale. That's very unfortunate, sometimes the deceptive and non-transparent guests will find their way to your listing. I think that being a detective is necessary in these rare cases. As a host you should have confidence that what you see is what you get!

@Christine1688, another crazy thing is that you can still see the photo of the guest before the booking is confirmed. Everyone else in the world has lost that power.

I think it was just before the change over.  However I have also seen photos that are not of the person, just a tree or something ????

You can still see the guest's photo on the App (providing they have one of course), or at least I can, but not when using a browser. I have posted about this before on some of the threads about the removal of guest photos, but no one responded!

I will check that out thank you.  I  usually use the app.  I will see.

I was able to see the photo on the app too - until my phone died and had to be replaced.  The new phone has the updated app and I can no longer see photos.  I was worried this would happen because even when I could see the photos on my older phone,  I could not on my husband's more recent phone (and updated OS and app).  So ... don't update your phone if you want to keep that functionality!

This request, to take porn photos, happens to so many hosts.  They target new listings thinking you won't turn them down.  When we started, we got 4-5 requests for this the first year.  We still get requests for film shoots for commercials or print ads - we just say no.

Thank you for that.  I have had one other request which I turned down, but again it was very vague, they don’t say what it is for, that would be easy.

I had no idea this is a regular occurrence, but if I have any suspicions I will be saying no.

Thank you again!!!!

I had a couple requests like that when I started hosting too. I have also had folks ask if they could have parties and weddings in my yard. My solution was to add a “no parties or photo shoot” to my house rules...saves time for everyone. 🙂

I just had this happen. It turned ugly. Using my home for porn photo shoots. Guest lied then refused to leave.

That’s  awful, I’m so sorry for you, it’s hard to filter out these creeps.

i hope you are recovering from the experience it can have a lasting effect.

This has happened to me before. Unannounced photo shoots and random unfamiliar people walking the buulsing - not cool!
