URGENT....Cannot change the number of guests anymore???

I have a booking in process and the booking guest is requesting 2 addtional guests.  I went to the change screen and it says I cannot change this becuase the reservation is in process.  I'm 99.9% sure I have done this before.  Plus, I know I've told other guests who try to sneak in the "unregistered" guests all of the time, they have to submit the change due to liability and change of voiding the host guaratee policy*.  I've googled this, searched the host forum, and looked thru recent posts.  Why and when did this change?

*PS, I knew at one time I could submit it and they ok the change, but its the fact I need their approval anyway, and the fact its dishonest, I demand the guest to follow thru.

PS. My max is 10 and booking was for 4, and now is 7.  So its not the maximum that is stopping, its the reservation in process.

@Elizabeth10  They changed it a will back, so once a reservation starts you cannot alter the guest count only the days. You can call AirBnB and have them change it and send to the guests to approve or just send a Request for Money with the total amount due. This was a stupid move on AirBnB's part because they do not get services fees on the Request for Money.
