Hi Guys,
I am wondering if any Italian Airbnb hosts can share tips with me on accommodating Italian travellers?
I have hosted maybe a dozen travellers from all over the world and had great experiences. Not including Italian travellers, I have exclusively received 5 star ratings. From the 4 groups of Italians I have hosted, I have yet to receive a 5 star rating.
Any country specific tips to make Italian travellers feel more comfortable would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Not really sure there is anything that different about Italians - but they do love great coffee! So no instant stuff....other than that, I am guessing its just a coincidence that your 4 stars came from one nationality.
Thanks for the tip on coffee. Yes, I'm guessing its conincidence also - but if there IS something I can do to lessen the chances of the coincidence recurring, I'll happily give it a try.
Hello @Max124,
I would concur on the coincidenciness of your reviews. My (one) Italian guest was a gem, and gave me one of my best reviews!
@Max124 we only hosted 2 groups of Italians in 1 year what is surprising considering they are our neighbours, but I lived 2 years in Italy so .... 🙂
Yes, they like coffee and use Moka coffee makers or esspresso machine (not filter), they like modern new furniture and stuff, use a lot of olive oil, garlic, chili papers, tomato and basil . For breakfast they will make a coffee and croassant or some other sweet cake (not sandwitch or eggs or english breakfast) All Italians like to always look nice so wall mounted mirror and a good lit place to put makeup on and hairdryer is a must 🙂
They like to go out for a dinner , to dance or just sit on the terrace and enjoy beer, coffee, coctails or wine so prepare some leaflets for good restaurants , clubs etc with italian food and variety of drinks
Thanks this is wonderful advice. I even have a spare Moka that I'll put out, will incorporate all your suggestions in terms of local delis they can pick up ingredients, and give some thought to places they might like to visit at night as opposed to general nightlife advice. Thanks again!
@Max124 I'm Italian and I'm a host in Italy. I don't have suggestions for you, there's nothing to do...Italians are spoiled, sorry about that. They want to pay for a apartment or b&b or wathever and have the service like a 5 star hotel. It's the same in Italy so don't worry about their reviews it's not your fault.
Ciao I'm Paola, Italian host as well, and I agree with @Cinzia29, Italian are quite spoiled but we do love Italian coffe for breakfast together with bread or cracked slices, jam, yogurt and cereals. We also love olive oil for our lunches/dinners and a small bottle of olive oil would make your Italian guests to feel at home. Your apartment is really nice, the kitchen is really great and the living room too. I would hang some paintings or poster or some nice decorations in the bedroom that is too austere, use some colors too.
I found extremely nice and easy to use the wall decall. I used in my apartment and they changed in a very simple and cheap way the look of the rooms. Give a look on Etsy.com and you will find some good ideas.
Hope this will help Max.
Fantastic to see you both. Thanks so much for sharing some tips here on how you would like to be welcomed as a guest. I love the sound of your food suggestions Paola, although they have made me feel rather hungry now! hehe
@Max124, here you have some first hand tips from Paola and Cinzia who are fantastic Italian hosts. This is amazing! It would be great to hear your thoughts. 🙂

@Cinzia29 why? they will look in mirrors and will not notice imperfections in the house 😄
@Branka-and-Silvia0 because if they are fat or unpleasant they will hate you!!! 😉
@Cinzia29 nooo, Italians do not have a problem with low self esteem, they have style 🙂
@Branka-and-Silvia0 They do, believe me, I'm Italian born and bread. And they get very upset about it... and they will use your sheets to cover the mirrors! I'm joking of course, but we're going off topic
of course you know Italians better, but my impression was/is that they are very self confident, especially women, and I like it 🙂 I think it is due to all the compliments Italians are giving to women all the time :)))
Sorry for going off topic
