Are you interested in 19th Century architecture?
Do you travel to a destination largely for its period architecture?
Istanbul is famous for it's ancient buildings, most notably in the district of Sultanahmet. However, just across the Golden Horn - 20 mins walk away - is the hill of Galata which has fabulous views of Sultanahmet, yet is itself a much more interesting neighbourhood in which to stay. Its network of streets is a treasure trove of 19th century architecture, much of which still manages to keep the spirit of the time in a way that's hard to find elsewhere.
I'd love to hear from other travellers who travel for this reason, and if you're tempted for a citybreak to Istanbul the do please have a look at the apartments I look after there, each of which has been chosen for its special architectural features: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/s?host_id=1366111&s_tag=hB46vEf9
