hi :) ..not sure if Im in the right place, but are guests charged the security deposit when they book? ..or only if they damage something under amount of security deposit.

thank you so much Sarah! And yes, I agree anyone who would be scared off from having a set security deposit amount is not someone I would want here anyway. What I meant was, I didn't want to set a security deposit amount if theyd be charged before arriving. 

Example, if someone was booking 2 days for a wknd get-away, but were charged for room plus an extra few thousand to cover the deposit. Because that might run them off. 

I really appreciate your answer, thank you again. I see its a timely and sometimes unrewarding process to get them to be accountable for damages, and they will not be charged deposit at time of booking. This is exactly what I what I was trying to find out.
