Air B & B host who cancelled 2 hours before arrival for no reason

We are a group of 10 football friends who travel to NCAA football games together.  We live in different parts of Texas and all traveled in to the Knoxville area for a football game.  The host accepted our full payment, confirmed our booking 7 months prior to last week, and then we all traveled to Knoxville.  When we called to get the address we were told there was a "problem".  The host, Joshua, who lives in NEW JERSEY!!!, said that the house was listed with VRBO and Air B & B and it was double booked.  Air B & B was unable to find us another location and told us to "try yourself".  They will refund our money - which btw they had for 7 months - but nothing more.  We will NEVER use Air B & B again and do not believe that anyone cares that there were 10 of us in town, with limited accommodations because of a big football game, who had to try and find anything we could to have a place to sleep for 3 nights.  This is beyond unprofessional and completely unacceptable.  Air B & B said they do not have ANY control over the hosts.  Really?!?!?!?!?!?

@Cheryl1018 sadly Airbnb's Aircover lets down both hosts and guests in equal measure. The truth is Airbnb has some control over the host as they will fine them for failing to deliver accommodation to you. As a minimum you should get some of this compensation......

I am so sorry this happened hosts like this give us all a bad name (was it booked through a large scale property management company) 

This is very much the hosts fault and it sounds like they may have taken a higher level booking.

It's rarely anyone else fault but the hosts if there is a double booking @Cheryl1018 

as you say there's a limited amount airbnb can do in an area which is likely to have limited space due to a major match.

airbnb under its guest guarantee say they will cover higher rental costs/hotels so I hope you will find alternative accommodation that works for you, which Airbnb will cover.
