Break rules

Hi,

My guest left the home in a very messy state, and there were unpleasant stains on the pillows, furniture, and cushions. Additionally, they did not adhere to the house rules listed in my rental listing, despite it being clearly stated that not following these rules may result in a request for compensation. At this point, should I address this issue with Airbnb, or should I discuss it directly with the guest? What would be the best solution in this situation?

Depends on what the issues are. Not 'following the rules' says little.

Taking the issue with the guest oftentimes turns into a food fight, with a retaliation review following.

With Airbnb is oftentimes like opening a Pandora's box, sometimes hard to close it once is opened.

@Brittney130 , I agree with @Fred13 . What you can do is leave an honest review of the guest and rate them accordingly to cleanliness (maybe a 3 or 4 star) , followed house rules (maybe a 4 star) etc…leave out emotions and just state the facts in your written review. You decide whether you would recommend the guest to other hosts. As @Fred13 , if you reach out to guest prior to review, you may get a retaliatory review.
