Contact Airbnb and inform that the guest did not show up.

It is important to register with Airbnb that the guest did not show up for check-in.

Especially if a guest booked your place (blocked your calendar) as a backup for another place, or for some other “just in case” reason.

Although it probably wouldn’t hurt, I don’t think “registering with Airbnb” is a requirement. There is nothing at this page that indicates that there is any type of registration process:

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/309#:~:text=You%20were%20ready%20for%20guests,after%20the%20rese....

If you call them, Airbnb will either attempt to call or message the guest (which you can do yourself, thereby showing that you at least tried), or tell you that you will still get your payout. Under what conditions do you think “registering with Airbnb” is important? Did you have an experience with this?

It is certainly not mandatory. But it would be an additional precaution for the Host in case the Guest, wanting to evade the cancellation policy and request a 100% refund, claims anything that is not true.

Once it is recorded that he did not show up for check-in, it becomes more complicated for him to claim anything, since Airbnb is aware of the fact.

Doing a search here on CC, it's easy to find reports of hosts complaining about false guest claims to get 100% refunds.

Added to this is the fact that Airbnb has adopted, most of the time, the attitude of always being on the guest's side.

The text you provide is only valid if the guest does not manifest. Imagine the situation, for example, of the guest contacting Airbnb claiming that there was no one in the accommodation at the time of check-in and, because of that, they are requesting a 100% refund?

What would you do?

You would still receive your Payout if the guest was a no-show fir the durqtion of the booking and did not cancel or request a refund.

In that case, I would suggest you  do nothing at all and keep your money for those booked dates that were blocked for the guest.

@John6945  There’s no rule against booking a place and then not using it. On rare occasions, a guest will book a place as a backup for another place, or for some other “just in case” reason. Don’t worry about your payout; it will arrive as usual.

When this happens to me, I’m more likely to be concerned about the welfare of my guest than my payout. I worry about my guests, for some odd reason. You might try messaging or emailing him.
