Guests with unverifed ID

Guests with unverifed ID

I'm new to Air BnB this year as a host with 19 bookings. All going well with 5 star reviews from all so far so very grateful for the positive experience so far, but still in a learning process about Guests ID.

Is there a setting where as hosts we can stop enquiries from coming through from guests who haven't verified their ID?  Or is this a process that Air BnB look after by not allowing a booking to proceed if a guest doesn't verify their ID? If the latter, is there a risk to Hosts that we may have a booking cancelled by Air BnB at a later date?

Thank you for help!

Hi @Fiona887 I hope this information helps answer your questions. Airbnb has made significant updates to its guest verification process, which will directly impact your hosting experience.

1. New Guest Screening Features: Airbnb introduced new screening features in 2023, which include guest verification. This is aimed at ensuring that only responsible travelers can book and stay at your property

2. Mandatory ID Verification for Guests: Starting from Spring 2023, Airbnb requires all guests to submit a photograph of a government-issued ID as part of the booking process. This is a mandatory step for booking a reservation on Airbnb, enhancing the safety and trust between guests and hosts. Hosts may also be required to submit a government-issued ID, like a passport or driver’s license, for verification.

3. Global Implementation of the Verification Process: By the end of June 2023, Airbnb aims to have 100% of guests booking homes and primary hosts undergo this verification process. This global requirement builds upon their previous initiative which targeted the top 35 countries and regions on Airbnb

These updates mean that as a host, you should expect all your potential guests to have verified their identity through Airbnb's process. This should significantly reduce the number of enquiries from unverified guests, as they would be unable to complete a booking without verification.
