HAVING ISSUES WITH AIRCOVER

GUEST LEFT JACUZZI RUNNING, DESTROYING ALL MACHINERY BELOW AND FRYING ELECTRICAL BREAKERS OF CONDO. ELECTRICITY HAS BEEN OFF FOR 2 WEEKS AND HAVE HAD TO FRONT ALL THE MONEY MYSELF FOR REPAIRS. AIRCOVER TAKES DAYS TO RESPOND AND NEVER CALLS ME. WHAT DO I DO?

Call your insurance company. You're unlikely to get much useful response from Airbnb.

By the way, if leaving the jacuzzi running causes that kind of damage, then there's something seriously wrong. I hope you were able to get that part fixed so it doesn't happen again.

Guests do stuff like that. You might want to get a remote switch that you can control it from your mobile phone. It's not expensive.

Good luck and happy hosting!

Jacuzzi is located on the roof of the condo. Yes there is something seriously wrong — and that is the guest leaving the water running, leaving one day early without telling me, and then leaving my keys with security without my explicit permission. The leak pooled on to the roof and seeped down into my condo, frying the electrical breakers and causing structural damage. Airbnb claims and advertises an insurance by “Aircover” yet they do not have a direct phone number and the Airbnb call center based overseas just states that and closes cases automatically after a few hours. Aircover responds to emails with a 24-48 hour delay and say they call but never do. That is what is seriously wrong.

Aircover is a marketing tool, not an insurance or guarantee of any kind. They don't have any obligation to even respond if they choose not to. Read the fine print.

File a claim with your insurance company. That's the normal procedure.

I'm sorry you had such bad guests @Matthew2341

Airbnb Cover is a limited guarantee and not insurance . Even Airbnb says on its guidance for Air Cover that it is no substitute for having your own insurance.

1. how did the guest respond when you filed a claim under Aircover with evidence of what happened?

2. Under Aircover if The guest doesn't respond or denies the claim Airbnb steps in an investigates... what did they say ?

Lots of hosts say they have problems claiming under Aircover.

if the circumstances are covered by Aircover , and you have provided evidence of the damage and quotes for repairs then I believe you can pay a few hundred dollars to go to arbitration and if you win your costs will be covered.

Personally I would claim on your insurance as it's likely to be much easier @Matthew2341
