Sorry this happened...can you provide more details about the situation so we can try and offer advice?

This is just a forum for Airbnb Hosts and guests...we're not Airbnb Customer Service and we can't directly help you with the current situation.

On instruction from the host, Airbnb cancelled our stay on the grounds that we had an unauthorised guest at the property.

This “unauthorised guest” is our children’s grandmother. She came to the house, one time for 30 minutes in the middle of the day, to collect them, as we were moving our belongings into the house.

Airbnb doesn’t state what “severe” is, but I don’t think any reasonable person would say what we did was severe. The unauthorised guest was also only on the property once, so it is not a repeated violation

Airbnb is at fault for canceling our booking for the above reason.

our $27,800 month long booking was cancelled by the host because airbnb didnt follow policy.  My children and I have no accomodation and no money and have been fighting this non stop for 6 days/nights now.

@Jodie213  We don't know exactly what happened, but this feels like it's not the entire story. Regardless, this situation could probably have been avoided if you had communicated with the host.

Did you ask the host if the children's grandmother could come pick them up? Unauthorized guests are a big no-no at STRs, but some hosts will make an exception for things such as that, while others are very strict (with good reason) and don't allow any outside unregistered visitors/guests.

$27,800 seems like a lot to pay for a one month stay. 30 days at a $500/night hotel would only be $15,000. Given that you booked such an expensive place, it seems unlikely that you now have no money and no place to stay. Something just doesn't seem right with this situation.

Thanks for the criticism.

that is the full story.

its money from insurance as our place flooded so no, I’m not loaded.

it cost that much because it was booked through the Christmas period.

i was after some help, not judgement.

and while that is the rule, the rule wasn’t told to us as a warning nor was it a repeated or serious offence as per Airbnb policies.

thanks for your help
