Hello everybody! Pretty new to hosting so I'm still learning a lot, but have you ever gotten a "feeling" about a reservation that something just isn't right?
I have a guest with whom I've communicated several times, all pleasant. But over the past couple of weeks, they have changed their reservation dates twice, same number of days but moving their arrival date up by one day. And both times somehow it decreases their total...the first time it decreased it by $1k+ and this time by less than $2. (The nightly rate is approximately $150.)
How can that be? I called Airbnb Support, and they couldn't provide an explanation but agreed to change the dates and keep the original reservation total on my behalf.
Is this some trick guests have learned? Or is there a legit answer as to how this could result in a lower rate?
All responses appreciated - thank you!

There are different daily rates, but the rates are not so drastically different that it would result in a $1k difference. But yes, I was thankful for the help to resolve the issue. I'm just still puzzled by it.
Hey there @Salty-Beaches0,
That's very strange indeed and I've not heard of that before; maybe the guest was trying their luck to see if it would take off a further amount of money? Do you charge different prices on different dates/weeks?
Great news that Airbnb looked into it for you though. 😊

Hello @Salty-Beaches0 @I don't accept requests to amend bookings which reduce their number of days
